Before & after

The photograph

The artwork

Drag the handle. On one side, the photo you send; on the other, the artwork you hang.

Our Ink & wash style

Pen first, then water. Confident ink lines describe the house; loose, translucent washes carry the light, the shadow and a whisper of colour — a red door washed warm red, kept soft so the drawing still leads.

It sits between line art and watercolour, and it is the most traditional thing we make: an artist’s study of your house, atmospheric and alive.

The style

What makes it ink & wash

Best in: period homes, snugs and book-lined rooms — anywhere that likes its art with a little history.

Line leads

Varied-weight pen work describes the house first — confident, economical, and true to every feature.

Real washes

Loose, translucent tone with soft bleeds and pooling — light and shadow laid in with water, bare paper left for the highlights.

Colour, whispered

Warm greys and sepia carry a hint of the house’s true colours — present, but never loud.

Questions

Good to know

How is it different from watercolour?

Watercolour is colour first — washes doing the describing. Ink & wash is drawing first: the pen leads, and the washes follow with tone and a whisper of colour.

Will it really match our house?

Faithfully. The linework keeps the true silhouette, the real windows, the door’s actual panels — the looseness is in the ink and water, never in the structure.

Will it feel old-fashioned?

Traditional, yes; dusty, no. The washes are kept fresh and the composition modern — it hangs as comfortably in a new flat as over a chesterfield.

Which size suits it best?

Souvenir and Monument — the washes reward a little room. In a slim dark-brown frame it looks like it’s always been in the family.

The other six styles

Same house, different temper — every style begins with your photograph.

The quietest style we make. Your facade in fine warm ink on open white paper — every line earned, nothing that isn't.

Soft washes and warm daylight, your house exactly as it stands. The one people mean when they say "make it feel like home."

A small-press print: two or three flat spot colours, halftone grain and a charming off-register slip. The most graphic thing we make.

Crisp white line on one flat drafting blue — your house drawn as the plan it might have been built from.

The grandest of the seven. Loaded brushwork, glowing light and gallery depth — for the house that's earned a portrait.

Your house as the cover story: flat painterly colour, confident shapes and a quiet wit. The one that looks curated the moment it's up.
